The New York Times’ TV coverage is about to get a lot better. The paper has tapped Gilbert Cruz as its new TV critic. Cruz was most recently editorial director of New York’s entertainment vertical Vulture. He had been with New York since 2012, when he joined as a senior editor.
Prior to joining New York, Cruz worked for Time as a senior editor overseeing arts coverage. During his five years with the magazine, Cruz also served as an education reporter, editor of Time’s Briefing section and editor of its Populist iPad app.
Before joining Time, Cruz worked for Entertainment Weekly for three years.
