Gannett news outlets across the United States started a campaign Wednesday to improve the dialogue between police and their respective communities.
Branded with the hashtag “#startswithtrust,” Gannett-owned TV stations and newspapers, including USA Today, are releasing reports documenting the distrust of police in America. The effort consists of a combination of special reports and a social media outreach campaign:

The idea for the campaign came from news directors at Gannett-owned TV stations who had covered the protests surrounding the police killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, said Ellen Crooke, vice president of news at Gannett. Read more
