In addition to writing the illustrated longread for The Times, Pilon is also the author of “The Monopolists,” a forthcoming book about the history of the game Monopoly, according to her website. She also made Forbes’ inaugural 30 under 30 list for media.
The Newspaper Guild of New York reported Monday that 21 additional staffers will be laid off from The Times in a culling that was originally supposed to be limited to 100 journalists.
Management at The New York Times will be notifying staffers who will be leaving Tuesday and Wednesday. In a memo to the newsroom, Executive Editor Dean Baquet called this week the end of “a painful period for the newsroom.”
