Newsweek adds 7 to editorial staff

Newsweek has recently added to its editing and reporting ranks, according to a staff email from managing editor Kira Bindrim.

Among the new hires:

  • Matt Cooper, who formerly covered the White House for Time, has been named politics editor.
  • Ross Schneiderman, who has written for The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, has been named senior editor.
  • Jonathan Broder, formerly defense and foreign policy editor at Congressional Quarterly, has been named senior writer.
  • Winston Ross, formerly a freelance writer, has been named national correspondent.
  • Azeen Ghorayshi, who has written for The Guardian, New Scientist and Wired UK, has been named staff writer.
  • Max Kutner, who contributed to Smithsonian and Boston magazines, is now a staff writer.
  • Polly Mosendz, who previously worked at The Atlantic Wire, is now a breaking news reporter.
